Pragmatic Institute (Motion Graphics)
My Role: Motion Design, Character Rigging, Logo Animation
Motion work produced for Pragmatic Institute as their sole motion graphics designer across two types of deliverables: a logo sting for use across all future video projects, and various animated scenes developed for coursework video productions.
Logo Sting—Discovery & Execution
The animation was designed to reflect two conceptual threads embedded in the existing logo: the building block nature of Pragmatic's framework methodology and the flag motif at the heart of the logomark. Rather than treating the sting as a generic intro, each motion decision was tied directly to the brand's visual and conceptual language.
The animation opens with a single blue rectangle representing one building block from Pragmatic's framework, which then splits into the two offset panels seen in the logo, suggesting that the concept being introduced is just one part of a larger system. The panels then rotate on the Z-axis, simultaneously forming the flag motif and revealing the P letterform through the same motion before the wordmark populates. The sequence closes with all elements playing in reverse.
Animated Scenes—Discovery & Execution
Created from keyframe storyboards developed with the instructional designer, each scene was timed to accompany voiceover audio. The challenge was translating instructional concepts into motion that felt clear to someone with no product management background, without letting the animation overshadow the material itself.
When the original direction was unclear, I would propose an alternative approach. A framework animation that wasn't landing was reworked into a cleaner sequence that better communicated the concept. For sequences requiring character movement, After Effects Expressions were used to rig and animate the models.
